Party members insisting that I should contest from Pune: Sharad Pawar

Pune: NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar revealed on Tuesday that party workers from Pune, Satara and Madha were insisting that he should contest from their constituencies.

Pawar said this at his home in the city when Shiv Sangram Parishad’s late leader Vinayak Mete’s wife Jyoti Mete came to meet him.

Efforts are being made to field Jyoti Mete from Beed against BJP’s Pankaja Munde. Some leaders from his party and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare were also present.

Pawar addressed the media and revealed that his party workers were insisting that he should contest the Lok Sabha election from Pune. “Party workers from Madha, Satara are also insisting that I should contest from their respective constituencies. However, I have fought and won 14 elections till date. I had declared publicly that I would not contest polls anymore. I do not wish to change the stance now.”
