Outskirt youth target mob on festive occasion to earn extra money

A 27-year-old youth who had come to watch Dahi Handi celebration in Pune chain was snatched by teenage youth which estimated worth of Rs 1 lakh who was later detained by the Mandal volunteers and handed over to Police.

In this regard, the case has been registered with Farashkhana police station by Prasad Kishan Dalvi a resident of Shivaji road. The incident took place on Monday around 3.50 pm but the case was registered with Pune police jurisdiction based police around 8 pm.

In this regard, the police arrested Akash Mohan Dukare (20), a resident of Nanekarwadi from Chakan. He has been arrested under the sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860 of the thief.

According to police, “the complainant along with his friend had come to watch various Dahi Handi celebration taking place in the heart of Pune city. Accordingly, he was watching the human pyramid of Dahi handi taking place at Suvarna Yug Mitra Mandal in Shivajinagar on Monday around 3 pm there was the huge mob and in the rush, he noticed some unidentified person had snatched his gold chain-weighted 35 grams which is for Rs one lakh.”

“An alert mob noticed the arrested person Dukare snatching chain on which the Mandal volunteer detained him. Initially, he denied taking and we were called to spot and during checking his bag and his clothes. The arrested youth is a college dropout and under the pretext of earning extra bucks he from Chakan came to the city to robbed articles.” A police officer said.

 

Officer added, “We suspect its not only one gold chain snatching but also other articles and it’s a gang. We are probing the case.”

 

On Tuesday, arrested person Dukare was produced before the court of judicial magistrate first class and has been remanded to police custody for three days.
