Open Liquor Shop During Lockdown, It will Start Getting State Revenue – Raj Thackeray to MH CM

Mumbai : Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday requesting him to open liquor shops in Maharashtra and said that this would increase revenue for the state. Raj told that the state treasury is rapidly emptying during the lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

The MNS chief has written in a letter to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) that allowing liquor shops to remain open is not an attempt to meet the need of liquor drinkers, but to increase revenue in the wake of the corona virus epidemic.

He said that since the lockdown came into force about a month ago, closed liquor shops could be allowed to open, ensuring compliance with the rules of distance from social gathering. He said that the state government should not get entangled in the matter of morality and take necessary decisions at this critical time. The MNS chief said in the letter, “Instead, face the problem and find a solution.”

He said that the state treasury is rapidly emptying during the lockdown. The lockdown has been extended till May 3. He appealed to allow hotels and cooks to provide food at affordable prices as a large part of Maharashtra’s population depends on them. The MNS chief said that this will help in reviving the state’s declining economy.
