Only two-member cabinet, two have become owners of Maharashtra, says Ajit Pawar

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Ajit Pawar | The opposition leader in the state assembly, Ajit Pawar, has launched a tirade against the state government. “The decision of the state government to hold direct elections for municipal councils is an anti-democratic move. At present, there is only a two-member ministry and two people have become owners of Maharashtra,” Pawar said.

He was in Dhankawadi in Pune to attend a programme and he had a dialogue with journalists. “It is a pitiable attempt to show that they are doing something after the change of government. Two people have become owners of Maharashtra and they are bearing all the load. There is no director of the disaster management cell. Many times, there are floods and natural calamities. Hence, the secretary is important. However, there is no secretary at present and this is the failure of the government. Why the cabinet expansion has not happened despite the government having support of 165 MLAs,’’ Pawar said.

“During the tenure of the MVA government, the tax on the gas had been reduced. These people were asking us to reduce the tax by 50 per cent. Why they did not do it now? If that had been done, petrol would have become cheaper by Rs 17. The government has tried to find an escape route while taking a decision,” Pawar said.

“We did not pull away the microphone and this is just the beginning. If this is the situation, then what will happen in Maharashtra,” he said.

“Deepak Kesarkar should exercise caution while speaking and should not make baseless statements. It is Shiv Sena’s internal decision to support a candidature for the president’s post and it is their right,’’ he added.
