One held from Quarter Gate area in Kirit Somaiya manhandling case

Pune : NpNews24 Online The Shivaji Nagar police on Monday arrested a Shiv sainik in the manhandling case involving senior BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya on Saturday.

 

Somaiya was manhandled on the premises of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) when he went to submit a petition to the municipal commissioner in alleged corruption in the Jumbo Covid Centre in the city.

 

The arrested has been identified as Sunny Gavate, who was held from the Quarter Gate area. This was revealed by Senior PI Anita More. Sunny Gavate had hurled his shirt towards Somaiya. However, Shiv Sena city unit chief Sanjay More and Kiran Sali have yet not been traced by the police. Two police teams have been deployed to search for them. The police said they were searching for other Shiv sainiks involved in the attack.

 

Eight people have been booked under sections 143, 147, 149, 341, 336, 337 of the IPC. Among the accused are Shiv Sena city unit chief Sanjay More, Chandan Salunke, Kiran Mali, Suraj Lokhande, Akash Shinde, Rupesh Pawar, Rajendra Shinde and Sunny Gavate.
