Old man attacks wife, then kills himself

PUNE: NPnews24 online – In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old man brutally assaulted his wife before jumping to his death from their 15th floor apartment.

The wife, who is grievously injured, has been admitted in hospital and first information report (FIR) for attempted murder against her has been filed at Wanawadi Police station.

Subhash Agarwal, a businessman who dealt with disposable material, was known to frequent squabble with his wife, Rekha Subhash Agarwal (56) has two daughters and a son. They live in joint family, with the son and his wife and one unmarried daughters at Pebble Park Society on Handewadi Road, Hadapsar.

On Friday night, daughter stepped out to shop and son and daughter-in-law were away at gymnasium, the elderly couple got into another of their arguments over some family issue. But this time heated argument turned into husband swung a hammer at his wife’s head.

Neighbours rushed at the sound of the thud with which he landed on the ground and found him lying dead.

According to the Police Sub-inspector Abhijit Jogdand of Wanawadi Police station said, “The family had moved into the apartment only a month ago, and very few in the society knew them. The couple used to regularly fight over minor issues and the same happened this morning.
