Emojis are the human expressions; it is a way through which we emote ourselves! We use emotions that are relatable to us. The most popular social networking application ‘watsapp’ has become a need for every smart phone. And the most exciting and interesting part of using watsapp is its emojis.

A proposal of replacing the polka dot bikini emoji into a much more modest swim suit has been given, on which still thought is being given.

Emojis are fun to use and to interact. But, different people have different thought process. Two women have raised questions on the bikini emoji of watsapp. “Why is the only bathing suit available in the emoji lexicon a polka-dot bikini?” Such questions have been raised by the women.

Along with the Miss America paegent, many other women are also giving a thought whether to change the emoji along with the UniCode Consortium which is deciding on this issue. They are in the process of deciding that whether to allow a very simple pink maillot, or one-piece bathing suit, to join the itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot bikini in the emoji lexicon.

It seems the women are not ready to use the pink-yellow polka dot bikini emoji, and want a more modest swim suit to be their representing icon.

Michael Everson and Andrew West, members of the International Organization for Standardization (and the two typographers who became famous for their campaign against last year’s frowning poop emoji), have expressed skepticism about the need for an additional swimsuit.

The tweets from all over the world have given a new direction to whether to replace the bikini emoji or not.

@blondercin tweeted: “It’s really frustrating that there’s a bikini emoji instead of a one-piece swimsuit emoji… #moddiestishottest”

Ms. Lee wrote in an email: “One could say it’s simply a failure of “theory of mind” with regard to emoji: How could anyone want an emoji that ‘I’ find useless or redundant? But I think it’s a subtle sign of the dearth of empathy in part of society that is manifesting itself in other social fissures right now.”

A lot of ideas in emojis are being proposed which shall be in the inclusion of 2019, emojis. Along with the trends in changes of emoji, there is also a possibility of an emoji of a sari to be included in the set of emojis in watsapp. Still, there is a way to go, as both women are well aware. Ms. Lee mentions the poncho and the kurta as good future candidates. Ms. Hutchinson has another idea for an icon that could use a more modern option.

It will be interesting to look further whether, the Indian cultures such as saris and other modest costumes get their deserved value in the market or not.
