Number of aspirants from Congress and NCP (SP) in eight Pune segments grow

Pune: The number of aspirants from the Congress for the State polls has grown in the city following the party’s success in the Lok Sabha elections in comparison to its performance in the past 10 years.

Aspirants were interviewed at Congress Bhavan. As many as 44 people appeared for the interview from the eight seats. On the other hand, 1,700 people from across the State have expressed their willingness to contest the State Assembly elections on the NCP (SP) ticket. Of them, 42 want to contest the poll from the eight seats in Pune. Sharad Pawar interviewed aspirants from Pune recently.

As the number of aspirants willing to fight from the NCP (SP) is going up, the Congress has also seen a rise in the number of aspirants. However, this may prove a headache for both parties.

While facing the State elections, it will be a challenge for the Congress and the NCP to accommodate those who would not get the candidature.
