Now, boom barriers at BRT stops

NP News 24 Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) administration has taken steps to prevent infiltration of private vehicles on the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) routes. The administration has decided to install boom barriers with automatic technology at all BRT stops in the city.
Initially, the boon barriers will be tested on experimental basis on the Sangamwadi-Vishrantwadi route.
The BRT system was launched one five routed between Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad to speed up public transport. The service is provided by the PMPML. However, accidents involving private vehicles are often caused on these routes.
To prevent this, the PMPML has appointed a warden at every BRT stop. However, the vehicle infiltration is still out of control. Hence, the administration has decided to install boom barriers at the BRT stops. Such barriers are seem on toll booths as well. The will be installed at the BRT stops.
The BRT Maintenance Committee met at the PMPML office and the decision was taken then. The proposal of installing boom barriers will be sent to the Pune Munucipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
