No Water supply – Girish Bapat questioned by policemen’s family members, road blocked

NPNEWS NETWORK PUNE  The family members of angry policemen gheraoed Pune district guardian minister Girish Bapat at his residence on Sunday morning, because there is no water supply to Shivajinagar police colony for the last 3 to 4 days. They also blocked the road outside the colony near Modern College in Shivajinagar.

Bapat has promised to supply water through tanker by today evening.

After the Khadakvasala canal breach, water supply was disrupted in many parts of the city. Thousands of people in the city have been affected. Water supply in the eastern part of the city is already disrupted. Shivajinagar police line was already getting insufficient water supply. Since water supply department has stopped the water pump for last three days, there is less water supply from SNDT tank in Jangli Maharaj Road, Shivajinagar Gaothan, Janwadi, Gokhalenagar and Model Colony.

In Shivajinagar police line, water is being supplied at very low pressure from the last 4 days. There is no water in many buildings. So the angry wives, and children of policemen came to the street on Sunday morning. Women have started taking initiative and outside the colony, they have put up their utensils and buckets.

On the other hand, some women and men went to Bapat’s house in Shaniwar Peth and staged protest outside his residence. The women told their sufferings due to no water in the colony. Bapat assured that water will be supplied by tanker by evening.

Shivajinagar police line was constructed in 1907-08 and thousands of police personnel live there with family members.
