NCP Chief Sharad Pawar to observe one day fast over the suspension of 8 MPs

New Delhi: National Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar said he will be holding one day fast in order to protest the suspension of 8 MPs of Rajya Sabha. ‘I will also take part in their (eight suspended Rajya Sabha MPs) movement. I will fast for a day to show support”, said Sharad Pawar.

Pawar made decision following the announcement of a fast by Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh Singh, who said that he was pained by the behaviour of the opposition leaders. Sharad Pawar and other opposition leaders are upset and disappointed with Deputy Chairman’s response over the suspension.

The eight suspended MPs has now ended their sit-in protest at Mahatma Gandhi statue inside the Parliament premises after the opposition parties took a joint decision to boycott the proceedings of Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the monsoon session.

In response to inappropriate behaviour on the farmer bills in the upper house of Parliament on Sunday, the eight MPs have been suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the entire monsoon session. TMC MP Derek O’Brien tore the rule book in front of the Deputy Chairman. Where as other oppositions MPs climbed on bench and started throwing rule book.
