Nandurbar police stop second child marriage in two days

NANDURBAR : NpNews24 Online  – Nandurbar Police | The Nandurbar police have prevented a second child marriage in two days under the guidance of SP PR Patil. Operation Akshata, an ambitious project, has been started on March 8, 2023 till now, a proposal against child marriage has been passed in 615 out of 634 gram panchayats. The police had stopped a child marriage from happening in Prakasha village in Shahada taluka. Now, the police have stopped another child marriage from taking place in Sorapada village in Akkalkuwa taluka, said SP PR Patil. (Nandurbar Police)

 

SP PR Patil had received information that a child marriage was going to take place at Sorapada according to Adivasi rituals on May 3, 2023. Considering the seriousness of the issue, he issued an order to API Rajesh Gavit to stop the marriage and counsel the parents of the girl.

 

API Rajesh Gavit of Akkalkuva police station and Akshata cell gathered more information and they came to know that the marriage was scheduled to happen on May 3. They tried to find the date of birth of the girl and demanded to see the Aadhaar card. They came to know that the girl was 15 years old and the boy was 18 years 10 months old. Later, the police counselled the parents of the boy and the girl. The Nandurbar police have stopped the second child marriage in two days.

 

SP PR Patil, Addl SP Nilesh Tambe, SDPO of Akkalkuva Division Sambhaji Sawant guided a team of officials including API Rajesh Gavit, PSI Ritesh Raut, PSI Ankita Baviskar, police naik Sunil Pawar and policeman Pankaj Jiremali in stopping the child marriage.
