Nandurbar police prevent yet another child marriage; Proposal against child marriage passed in 603 gram panchayats; Initiative of SP PR Patil

NANDURBAR : NpNews24 Online  – Nandurbar Police | Through Nandurbar SP PR Patil’s initiative, Operation Akshata programme was started on March 8, 2023 to prevent child marriages and violence against women and till date, a proposal against child marriage has been passed in 603 gram panchayats. Meanwhile, the Nandurbar police have prevented a child marriage from taking place at Prakasha village in Shahada taluka. Earlier also, the Nandurbar police have stopped many child marriages, informed SP PR Patil.

 

SP PR Patil had received a tip that the marriage of a minor girl from Navsari in Gujarat was going to take place with a boy from Prakasha village in Shahada taluka on April 30, 2023. Considering the seriousness of the issue, he informed district level member of Akshata Samiti Nayana Devre and issued orders to prevent the child marriage from taking place. He also issued instructions that the parents of both the boy and girl should be counselled.

 

The police came to know through Akshata Samiti members that a haldi ceremony was going to be held at a place in Prakasha village. When they came to know that the bride was to come there, they enquired about her date of birth. The police came to know that the girl was aged between 16 and 18. The police counselled the parents and they changed the decision about marriage. The groom and his parents were served a notice by the Shahada police station. In this manner, the Nandurbar police prevented a child marriage from taking place at Prakasha.

 

SP PR Patil, Addl SP Nilesh Tambe, Shahada Division’s SDPO Srikanth Ghumre guided Akshata Samiti member Nayana Devre, police naik Vikas Kapure, Purushottam Sonar, Meharsingh Valvi and Krishna Jadhav in preventing the child marriage from taking place.
