My mother had not lost touch with voters, says Kunal Tilak

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election | Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil had spoken about not giving the ticket to a person from Mukta Tilak’s family during a programme held on Monday. “Since Mukta Tilak was sick for two years, she had lost touch with the voters. Her husband Shailesh and son Kunal had to spend a lot of time attending Mukta Tilak. Hence, their political and social existence had reduced in the Kasba Peth. This is the reason why the BJP did not give the ticket to anyone from Tilak’s family,” Patil had said. Mukta Tilak’s son Kunal has criticised the statement made by Chandrakant Patil. “My mother had worked in Kasba Peth for 20 to 25 years. It will be wrong to say that the rapport with the people and the contacts that she had developed during these years, had ended during her illness. The BJP should honour and respect my mother’s work in Kasba Peth area,” he said.

“My mother’s rapport with the people and the contacts that she had developed during her illness had not reduced. Hence, there was a sympathy wave in Kasba Peth. When BJP put up a candidate in the area, the voting took place along a different pattern. Even when she sick, my mother used to attend programmes and she had got funds allocated for Kasba Peth. The development programmes were going on. After Girish Bapat, my mother had bonded well with the electorate in the area. Hence, my mother’s work should be respected. It will be wrong to ignore her contribution, “he said.

Kunal said he was eager to contest the assembly elections from Kasba Peth. Many people from Kothrud, Khadakwasla and Shivaji Nagar areas were camping in Kasba Peth despite not having any self interest. A change would be seen in the next election and he was 100 per cent confident about it, he added.
