MSEDCL will set up e- vehicle charging stations

When the hike in fuel prices setting new records day by day, it is the need of time to look at its alternatives. The use of electrical vehicles will increase in future, by keeping this in mind, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has approved the proposal of electric vehicle charging stations at 500 places across the state to encourage the use of electricity based vehicles.

MSEDCL will set the 50 e- vehicle charging in its first phase, in which 10 charging stations will set up in Pune city, while 12 stations on Mumbai- Pune Expressway, six at Thane, four at New Mumbai and 10 stations will be set up at Nagpur. The Central and State government also encouraged to MSEDCL for this unique and new project. That’s why, this electric vehicles will be seen running on roads soon.

This project will be implemented in stages. Project’s proposal reached in last stage and its work will start in next week. Fast DC charging stations installed at the Paradigm subcentre of Pune and at Nagpur’s Amravati road, which will start its working soon. For installing one station, it required around 2.5 lakh rupees.

This fast DC charging stations will take 45 minutes to one hour for charging one vehicle completely. The MSEDCL will charge 6 rupees per unit for charging the vehicles, on the basis of Time Of Day (TOD). Also there will be discount of 1.50 rupees per unit, for those  vehicles which will charge in between 10 pm to 6 am.

Maharashtra state government made  ‘e-vehicle charging’ policy 2018, for the encouragement of use of these types of vehicles. And this policy will be implemented in six metropolitan city of Maharashtra, which includes Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Thane, Aurangabad and Nasik city. This stations will be set up at free space of subcentres of MSEDCL.

Benefits of Electric vehicles:

Cost saving: As we seen the fuel prices goes high in last few weeks, it is not affordable for common people. Thus, electrical vehicles can be the best alternative for fuel based vehicles. Even these vehicles cheaper in maintenance as compare to other.

No pollution: The issue of air pollution becomes more critical now a days. Which causes to various health problems and also leads to environmental loses. Even, it becomes difficult to breath in metropolitan cities, which leads many diseases like asthma.
