According to a World Health Organization report, girls’ legal age for marriage is 18-year-old, but the ratio of the girls below 15 years of age is 45 lakh, out of which 70 per cent girls have two children.

It has been found that about 36% of the total number of children in the country are underweight. Also, the number of child labour in the country has increased, says a report.

Manisha Kashid, Principal of Matoshree National School, told this in a press meet on Wednesday(August 8). Gunjan Israni, Nayana Nerlekar, Rashmi Shetty, Hetal Rawal, Ashwini Jadhav, Preeti Kharge were also present for the press meet.

‘Population of children is 39% of the total population of the country, while children up to five years are total 29%. “It is said in the survey that children from 5 to 14 years of age are child labour,” said Kashid.

Kashid further pointed out that 40% of children are victims of different exploitation. Physical abuse, psychological abuse, negligence of educating, child labour and the burden of competition are the types of exploitation.

There are cases of 17 thousand children suffering from sexual abuse. Total cases pending in Uttar Pradesh are 16 thousand, Madhya Pradesh 11 thousand, Kerala, Odisha, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Bengal and Gujarat, in the states are between three to five thousand.

A public awareness rally is being organized by Matoshree National School in which many parents are also participating. The rally will be held on August 11 and it will begin from Matoshree National School, Warje at 9 am, said the Minister of Matoshree National School.
