Modi Govt. to Spend 3500 Cr to Provide Free Food to All Poor, Even if They Don’t Have Ration Card : Finance Minister

New Delhi : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is giving information about the second installment of the Rs 20 lakh crore package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid Corona crisis. On Wednesday, major announcements were made for the MSME sector, after which announcements are now being made for other sectors. The press conference has begun.

5 kg wheat, Rice, Pulses
Those who do not have ration card or any card, will also get help of 5 kg wheat, rice and one kg of gram : Finance Minister

 

Free Grain Supply for Migrants, to cost exchequer Rs 3,500 crore
The government, apart from previous announcements, will give 5 kgs/person of wheat or rice and 1 kg/family of gram for non-PDS card holders for 2 months. This will be done through the states, which are aware where the migrant workers are currently staying. A rough assessment indicates at least 8 crore migrants will benefit from this free food grain supply. This intervention will cost the exchequer Rs 3,500 crore, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman.

One Nation – One Ration Card
Work will be done on the scheme of One Nation-One Ration Card. This will be applicable in every state. Poor can take ration from the ration depot of any state with the help of this card: Finance Minister
