Mumbai : NpNews24 Online Maharashtra Police | Commissioner of Police (CP) Sanjay Pandey has issued an order instructing all senior police officers to work on night duty. This is for the first time that such decision has been made in the history of Mumbai police. CP Pandey has decided this in the interest of Mumbaikars’ security. According to his decision, senior police officers such as Joint CP, Addl CP will work on night duty like their junior colleagues in the police force. This means senior police officers will be on night patrol in the city.

ACPs, DCPs visit places in their jurisdictions and supervise work of officers and personnel at the police station level. They visit important spots and examine lock-ups. Now, the CP has changed this routine.

Night vigil has been made stringent. The CP himself will work on night shift once a month. Joint CP and Addl CP have been asked to work on night duty. If senior officers remain in action at night, the entire force will work efficiently. Illegal activities done during night will be curbed. Proper decision could be taken in the case of an eventuality, said officers.

CP Pandey has instructed Joint CP to work on night duty once in 15 days, Addl CP once in 10 days and DCPs and ACPs once in seven days. Joint CP and Addl CP will be on night patrol from 12 midnight till 4 am across the city while the DCPs will keep vigil at night within their jurisdictions. They will have to take action after receiving inputs from the control room.
