Maharashtra becomes the first state in the country to vaccinate 3 crore people

Mumbai : Maharashtra has become the first state in India to vaccinate three crore vaccines since the nationwide vaccination campaign began on January 16 this year to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Along with this, the state government said on Friday that if the supply continues by the central government, then it can do corona vaccination of the eligible population of the entire state within the next three months.

State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said in a program ‘Digital Dialogue’ organised by his party NCP that the availability of vaccine doses is not an issue now. He told that the availability of the vaccine is no longer an issue. So far, we have put more than three crore vaccines in the state. Tope said that with the increasing pace, Maharashtra can vaccinate its entire eligible population in the next three months.

He said that Maharashtra has the capacity to administer 10 lakh doses per day. If the central government increases its supply according to the capacity of the state, then we can vaccinate the entire population in three months. Significantly, till Friday afternoon, 3,00,27,217 vaccines had been administered in Maharashtra.

Tope also said that he has requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to increase the budget allocation for the health department. He said that the NITI Aayog has recommended spending five percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the health sector. In reality it is only 0.9 to 1 percent. I have asked the government to increase the allocation so that more health infrastructure can be developed.
