MahaMetro allows people to travel with cycles

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Metro |  You can travel in the metro with your cycle. Shashank Wagh was the first person who travelled by his cycle on Monday. He travelled from Garware College to Anand Nagar.

On Monday morning, Wagh came to the Garware College metro station with his bicycle. The metro service started at 8 am. The security guard stopped Wagh when he saw him with a cycle. Wagh told him to talk with his senior officials. MahaMetro has allowed passengers to travel with their cycles in the metro. When he told this to the security guard, he was allowed to enter the station. He brought a ticket. He took his cycle and reached the second floor and entered the metro with his cycle. He got down at Anand Nagar station and came out of the station with his cycle.

“Cycle and metro are good alternatives to reduce the pressure on the roads. In foreign countries, there is a separate bogie for cycles. However, this is not possible in India. It is a good thing that MahaMetro has given permission for people to travel with their cycles,” Wagh said.

MahaMetro PR Director Hemant Sonwane said people can travel with their cycles in the metro. “But they should ensure that others are not inconvenienced. At present, there is no separate place for cycles. However, cycles can be kept in the back space of the coaches,’’ he added.
