‘Lions’ came roaring for Noble Cause and Police

In order to maintain law and order in city, during Ganesh Immersion procession  when police were on toes round the clock in the ‘bandobast’ to take care of their health and refreshment, good samaritans like Lions club of Pune Yashodhan (LCP) along with other branches of such clubs, several volunteers came ahead to distribute food snacks in city-based various jurisdiction police stations.

it was an initiative to show respect and gratitude. The policemen who put great efforts towards ensuring the safety of the citizens on the whole day of Ganesh immersion procession were distributed food and snacks by 20 members of LCP Yashodhan who were present.

Such noble cause was initiated by various organizations of Pune, the smiles on the faces of the policemen were a treat to watch, because the protectors of the nation deserve respect and such small initiatives are the stepping stones to encourage them to put more efforts from the welfare and protection of the society.

In such an initiative, LCP Yashodhan on Sunday distributed foods and snacks a ‘food distribution activity’, Snacks and Chikki were distributed and more than 200 Policemen and other volunteers were included also police mitra (Police friend) attached in the jurisdiction of  Bhartiya Vidhyapeeth Police station of Pune city Commissionerate took benefit of it.

Not only this, keeping in mind Eco-friendly Ganesh Utsav celebration, the same LCP Yashodhan also arranged ‘Nirmalya Daan’.

For safeguarding and shielding the nature and to create awareness of clean city, a campaign was held for which 10 members of the club were deployed at Dattawadi area for collecting flowers, artificial ornaments and other materials of decoration which people usually dispose of in river bed which pollute the river.

In order to keep a tap of the clean and green city along with saving rivers, the members were taking efforts to interact with people and collect their belongings which they had the plan to dispose of an inflowing river. Such activity kick-started from 9.30 am and continued till Sunday late evening.

Speaking to NPNews24, Govind Kela president of the club said, “Such will be collected and reused it via fertilizing. Such fertilizing will be recycled and reused for farming and other gardening purposes. We got the huge response for the cause. And hence we believe that it was our way of celebrating Ganesh Utsav.”

In another similar initiative, Lions Club of Poona Sarasbaug Charitable Trust also jointly arranged food distribution facility on-duty police, Homegaurds and Police Mitra in Ganesh Immersion procession on Sunday and Monday.

Lions Club of Poona Sarasbaug Bhanupratap Barge, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mukta Tilak, Mayor of Pune and Ramesh Shaha, District Governor, Lions Club of International inaugurated the food distribution center at Ranka Jewellers, Laxmi Road Pune.

Bhanupratap Barge expressed gratitude towards Lions club for giving homemade food to Police and other guards.

Fatechand Ranka, Past District Governor, Asha Oswal, Pravin Oswal, President of Lions Club of Poona Sarasbaug, Santosh Patwa, Secretary and Deepa Gandhi, Treasurer of Lions Club of Poona Sarasbaug were present on the occasion.

This was its 14th year of activity and more than 3000 people took food packets and 700 to 800 people took food at the center. Club also arranged tea and water for 24 hours, Fatechand Ranka mentioned.
