Leaving a Chinese company behind Samsung to bring 6G technology

New Delhi: As per the Samsung Electronics, they expect 6G communications to be commercialized as early as 2028 and go mainstream by 2030, said officials on Tuesday.

Samsung released a white paper entitled “The Next Hyper-Connected Experience for All” outlining the company’s vision for the next generation communication system.

ITU-R, a sector of the International Telecommunication Union responsible for radio communication is expected to begin their work to define a 6G vision next year, said Samsung.

In the white paper, Samsung defined three categories of requirements — performance, architectural, and trustworthiness — to realize 6G services such as truly the immersive extended reality, high-fidelity mobile hologram, and digital replicas.

Performance and an architectural requirement for 6G includes optimizing network design to overcome the limited computation capability of mobile devices, enabling the flexible integration of new network entities, and applying artificial intelligence right from the get-go of technology development.

Samsung is a South Korean company that will bypass China. Meanwhile, China is developing 5G technology.
