Shiv sainiks manhandle Kirit Somaiya at PMC

Pune : NpNews24 Online – Kirit Somaiya In Pune | In a sensational incident, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya was manhandled by Shiv sainiks in Pune on Saturday. Somaiya who has been reportedly ‘exposing’ leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi was on a Pune visit.

He was visiting the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), where he wanted to hand over a petition to the municipal commissioner regarding corruption in the PMC’s Jumbo Covid Hospital.

As Somaiya arrived at the PMC, Shiv sainiks raised slogans and manhandled him. This led to a melee.

Earlier, Shiv sainiks came to know that Somaiya would meet Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar at 4.30 pm. Around 100 Shiv sainiks gathered at the PMC. They realised that he would enter the new building. So, they turned to the new building raising slogans. However, Somaiya’s car went toward the old building.

When Somaiya was getting off his car 3-4 Shiv sainik accosted him. They asked him, “Why are you not speaking about corruption in the PMC? Why are you speaking about selective cases?” Somaiya asked them to furnish details about graft in the PMC. He said, “Give me details. I will speak to the civic administration.”

Meanwhile, the Shiv sainiks gathered at the new building, arrived there. They started sloganeering. Security personnel threw a ring around him and tried to safeguard him. However, Shiv sainiks charged at him and the situation seemed to go out of control when some security guards asked him to get into his car.

However, Shiv sainiks tried to stop him from getting into the car. Security guards were also manhandled. Somehow, he wriggled out of the situation and got into his car. As the car was driven off, Shiv sainiks hit on its bonnet and windshields. They tried to stop his car at the gate. However, security guards succeeded in getting his car past the gate. During this period, tension prevailed on the premises of the civic body.

Later, the manhandling incident became a talking point in political circles.
