Juhu Beach became the home for 40 truckloads of wastes, everyday

Due to continuous raining the coastal areas near Mumbai facing hike in water levels. This causes huge accumulation of wastes and plastic across the bank of the sea. Mainly places like Girgaon, Dadar, Juhu, Varsoa, Aksa and Gorai are witnessing the dumping of wastes in their coastal areas. Mumbai Municipal Corporation has collected enormous amount of wastes in last 10 to 12 days. The Mayor of Mumbai, Vishwanath MAhadeshwar has facilitated one hour of Swachh Abhiyan every day from Girgaon Choupati to Marine Drive but continuous heavy rain leads the disposed wastes to the banks.

However, including wastewater from the surrounding slums and industrial waste made Juhu beach the most affected coastal area causing Contracting intestinal infections, typhoid fever and hepatitis A.

For past 25 days Silver beach of Juhu witnessing 35 to 40 dumpers full of wastes. All these made beach look dirty. The director of Sea Guardian Lifeguard, Sunil Kanojia says the initiative started by Prime Minister ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ endeavoring to highlight the movement whereas Mumbai Mahanagar Palika failing on the same.
