Joint Indo-Russian exercise Indra-18 showcases specialised training as part of the validation exercise conducted on 27 November 2018

  1. The Tenth Edition of a joint Indo – Russian military exercise INDRA – 18 is underway at Babina Military Station from 18 November 2018 and will conclude on 28 November 18.
  2. The Exercise which has reached final stage of joint training has been able to cover a lot of ground. Detailed lecture cum demonstrations/ discussions on Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), Raid on a terrorist hideout, Intelligence gathering and sharing, Perception Management, Humanitarian Laws, Human Rights, Hostage Rescue etc have been covered so far including integrated live firing.
  3. As part of the Validation Exercise on 27 November 18 the troops carried out specialised joint training which included Road Opening Drills, Clearance of a Built Up Area and Destruction of a Rebel Strong Hold in an semi-urban terrain setting. The participating contingents also carried out joint training on hostage rescue by slithering from MI-17 helicopters as well as room intervention drills as per the given Exercise setting.
  4. The Validation Exercise was reviewed by Lieutenant General RP Singh, AVSM,VSM, General Officer Commanding, Sudarshan Chakra Corps in presence of senior Army officers of both the participating countries. The Exercise will conclude tomorrow with a ceremonialclosing ceremony being organised at Babina Military Station.
  5. Exercise INDRA – 2018 has been very successful in increasing the bonhomie and camaraderie amongst both the participating nations. The troops have shared the best practices being followed by respective nations with respect to Counter Terrorist operations in a semi-urban backdrop. In the evenings the troops from India and Russia played games and organised friendly competitions.
