JM Road blast case – Accused Bunty Jahagirdar surrenders at ATS police station

NPnews24 Online Mumbai/Pune – After the Bombay High Court cancelled his bail order, 2012 JM road blast accused Aslam Shabbir Shaikh alias Bunty Jahagirdar (46) of Ahmednagar district, at the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) police station in Mumbai on Thursday.

An officer from the agency said, “We have taken him in our custody and after completion of formalities, produced him before the Sessions Court Mumbai. He was remanded to magisterial custody remand and lodged in Arthur Road Jail.”

According to ATS, after getting bail he was not going to the ATS police station for attendance as mentioned in bail condition. Also while on bail, some cases were registered against him.

Jahagirdar, a resident of Shrirampur in Ahmednagar, is accused of supplying weapons to the JM road blast accused Irfan Landge (37) of Ahmednagar, who was arrested earlier.

On August 1,2012, four co-ordinated low-intensity explosions had shaken J M Road between 7.25 pm and 11.30 pm, injuring one person. Bombs planted at two places were, however, defused. ATS believe terrorist organisation Indian Mujahideen (IM) is behind the serial bomb blasts.
