Jalindar Kamthe appointed as the BJP’s West Maharashtra President amid discussions of his return to NCP

Pune: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed Jalindar Kamthe as the party’s West Maharashtra President. State President Chandrakant Patil handed over the appointment letter to him in Pune on Friday (January 22).

Former Minister of State Bala Bhegade, District President Ganesh Bhegade, Atul Deshmukh, Pravin Kalbhor etc. were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Kamthe was the president of the Congress Students Union and the Pune District Congress. He became the first president of Zilla Parishad from NCP. He was also the President of Pune District NCP from 2014 to 2018. In 2018, he became the NCP’s state general secretary. However, the Purandar assembly constituency went from the NCP to the Congress. He then joined the BJP.

Meanwhile, discussions of return of Jalindar Kamthe were making rounds, BJP appointed him as the West Maharashtra’s president. While NCP faced failure at the recent Gram Panchayat elections in Purandar, discussions of Kamthe’s return were crucial for the NCP to balance the power.
