IT engineer arrested for cheating businessman of Rs 55 lakhs for building Lavasa type project

Pune – NP news24- Officials from Dattawadi police station, Pune city police, have arrested a 33-year-old IT engineer from Mumbai for allegedly duping a businessman of Rs 55 lakhs under pretext of helping him get Rs 100 crores loan.

The accused identified as Jatin Virendra Dhurv impersonated as CEO of Global Infra and Financial company. His accomplice Jayesh Nand Lalbhai Guntala is absconding. For the last two years, the police was searching for him.

Based on complaint from businessman Prithviraj Khamkar, Dattawadi police had registered the case in 2016. A common friend had introduced him to Dhruv who told him about his company providing loans for big projects.

According to police, Dhruv sent e-mails, messages to Khamkar promising to finance a project spread over 1200 acres land on the lines of Lavasa City. He had promised to provide loan Rs 100 crores at lower interest rate. He had assured that to buy the project from Khamkar for Rs 55,000 crores.

He held various meetings and took Rs 55 lakhs but Khemkar didn’t get the promised loan.

This crime was investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Shankar Salgar. He was found to have hidden his identity and staying in Kandivli. On this basis, the police had kept watch on him for 15 days. He was from his office in Bandra. He is currently in police custody.
