Incidents of attacks on policemen increasing, 30 attacks reported in three months, says Ajit Pawar

MUMBAI : NpNews24 Online  –  Ajit Pawar On Maharashtra Police | Speaking in the state assembly on Wednesday, the leader of the opposition, Ajit Pawar, said that the police are on duty for 24 hours for ensuring the safety of citizens and they perform their duties without caring about their well-being. “However, they are being assaulted while they are performing their duties. In the last three months, many incidents of attacks on policemen have been reported. Hence, it is necessary that chargesheets are filed against the guilty as soon as possible. The policemen will be demoralised if such attacks continue. It is necessary for the state government to take tough action against those who are attacking the policemen,” he said.

“The attacks on policemen are increasing. More than 30 incidents of such attacks have been reported in the last three months. The incidents include trying to overrun the policeman, dragging the policeman with the car and people trying to assault the cops, etc. Hence, the state government should provide equipment like walkie-talkies and motorcycles to the police apart from taking care of their security,” he said.

“To prevent the rise in incidents of attacks on the policemen, the chargesheets should be immediately filed in the courts. The state government should make efforts to boost the morale of the policemen and take strict measures to prevent attacks on them,” he added.
