“I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to MPSC students: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Pune: While speaking to the media, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar apologised to MPSC aspirants and students for the inconvenience caused to them after MPSC exam scheduled on March 14 was postponed for the fourth time earlier. He said CM Uddhav Thackeray immediately took note of the matter and interacted with the students.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government’s decision to postpone the MPSC exams came under fire from the opposition as well as leaders of the ruling alliance.

 Ajit Pawar said, “MPSC is an autonomous body and there was no need for the Opposition to politicize the issue. It is wrong for the Opposition to pretend that the government is doing something different. The Chief Minister immediately took note of the matter”

“The MPSC should have handled the matter properly. The MPSC fell short somewhere. It is unfortunate that it was time for the students to take to the streets in this case. It is also unfortunate that the opposition took to the streets for no reason”, he added.

The Maharashtra government on Thursday received flak from aspirants over Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) decision to postpone preliminary examinations for recruitment, which was scheduled on March 14. Aspirants staged demonstrations at several places in the state including Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Sangli, and Amravati among others. They have demanded that the exams be held on the same day.

According to the new circular, the postponed MPSC examination would be now held on March 21. Last year, the MPSC preliminary examination was scheduled to be conducted in April 2020, but continuously delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exams have been postponed for the fifth time since last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.
