The UP CM is campaigning in poll-bound West Bengal where elections will commence from March 28

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan lambasted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the law and order situation in state. “I am in shock,” said the TMC leader in a tweet.

The tweet surfaced ahead of UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s campaign for BJP in Malda, Bengal. The Yogi Adityanath government faced criticism over the issue of women’s safety in UP.

Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan has targeted the state CM Yogi Adityanath on the incidence of rising crime against women in UP.

Nusrat tweeted a news channel’s report on the incident of Hathras in UP, where an accused of sexual abuse shot dead victim’s father, She questioned whether the safety of the victims and her family was more important than the Bengal elections for CM Yogi.

“SHOCKING! There’s no word to describe the horrific situation which has happened in BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh. Why can’t Yogi Adityanath prioritise the safety of this family? Is Bengal election more important for BJP than safety of people?

This tweet appeared before UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s campaign for BJP in Malda, Bengal. Significantly, the Yogi Adityanath government of UP is facing intense criticism over the issue of women safety in the state. In his speech, Yogi slammed Mamata Banerjee and said that the law and order in Bengal is bad and there is a state of chaos here.

He said, “There is an atmosphere of chaos in Bengal, people are troubled by it. The biggest concern here is about security, we have to ensure change in Bengal.”

The Trinamool leaders, who did not delay in reacting to Yogi’s address, called the UP CM’s statement ironic. Cabinet Minister Firhad Hakim and MP Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, both tweeted videos of the Hathras incident with the hashtag of ‘BJP Hatao, Beti Bachao’.
