Highly educated youth arrested by Wanawadi police for stealing mobile

PUNE: The Wanawadi police have arrested a highly educated youth for stealing the mobile of a student who had come to appear for an examination at Digital Hub in Ramtekdi industrial area. Apart from the mobile, other goods worth ₹96,500 have been seized from him.

 

The arrested accused has been identified as Rishikesh Prabhakar Patil (24), a resident of Dhankawadi, Pune and hailing from Jalgaon district. The students who had come to appear for an examination in the Digital Hub in Ramtekdi, had kept their belongings in the open area. After the students went to take their belongings after the examination was over, the bag and mobile of a student was found missing. The concerned persons lodged a complaint at the Wanawadi police station and an FIR has been registered.

 

Sr PI Bhausaheb Pathare of Wanawadi police station had issued instructions to PSI Santosh Sonawane about tracing the accused. PSI Santosh Sonawane, policeman Amol Gaikwad and Vitthal Chormale were trying to trace the accused by checking the CCTV footage. When they got a tip about the accused, they laid a trap and arrested him. When he was grilled, he admitted stealing the bag and the mobile. The police have seized the stolen mobile, engineering calculator and bag worth ₹96,000. The accused Rishikesh Prabhakar Patil has studied up to BCS and he is doing an apprenticeship in a company.

 

DCP Vikrant Deshmukh, ACP Pornima Taware and Sr PI Bhausaheb Pathare guided a team of officials including PSI Santosh Sonawane, Police Havaldar Naik, Police Havaldar Kadam, Police Naik Gosavi, policeman Chormale, policeman Gaikwad, policeman Sutar and policeman Rathod.
