Maratha agitators after targeting Chakan now they have moved to Ghorpadi. The protestors have requested Ghorpadi shopkeepers to keep their shops shut. Still the protestors haven’t caused loss of property. According to Mundhwa Senior Police Inspector Anil Patrudkar, “Protest was carried out by Sakal Maratha Samaj of Ghorpadi Gaon which was completed in a very peaceful manner. The protest was started at 10.30 in the morning of Thursday. 10 to 15 protestors tried to block Pune – Solapur Highway but they were arrested by Wanwadi Police. Rasta Roko Aandolan was also observed but for not more than two to three minutes. The situation was under control throughout the agitation of Marathas in Ghorpadi.”

Another Maratha youth attempts suicide in Jalna  

Namdev Chandrabhan Garad (30) in Ghansawangi from Jalna District tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous fluid on Wednesdaymidnight in demand for Maratha reservation. He has been admitted at General Hospital in Jalna.

There are ongoing agitations in the state regarding Maratha reservation. In this case, Kakasaheb Shinde youth, at Kaigaon Toka, Aurangabad, gave his life for the demand for reservation. Thereafter, such incidents occurred across the state. On Wednesday night, Namdev Chandrabhan Garad, a resident of Ghansawangi of Jalna district, tried to commit suicide. According to Doctor’s report his condition is out of danger.

Meeting held with CM: Mumbai

Today in Mumbai, Government held a meeting with volunteers of the Maratha Kranti Morcha. This meeting included prominent writers, artists. After this meeting, the dignitaries of Maratha Samaj said that positive points were discussed with the government while they also insisted the Maratha community to maintain peace. The people of Maratha community should not take any harsh steps like suicides.

This meeting was attended by senior scientist Dr A.H. Salunke, Actor Amol Kolhe, Sayaji Shinde, Nitin Sardesai, Popatrao Pawar, Advocate Harshad Nimbalkar, BVG Group’s Hanumant Gaikwad, Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil, Education Minister Vinod Tawde, Shiv Sangram Party leader Vinayak Mete were also present.

Agitators continues to Protest in Parli

Agitators said today that the Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha will be continued till the concrete decisions have been taken on the Maratha reservation. The movement of the Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha has been going on in the Tehsil office area of Parli since last 16 days.

Agitators of Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha got a meeting this afternoon. Coordinators informed about the further progress of the agitation. Agitators have announced that the protestors will suspend the agitators only when the state government makes a concrete decision on Maratha reservation. The protesters said that all demands should be made by August 7 otherwise the strike will be organized throughout the state from August 9.

  • The Chief Minister should take this decision: Protestors also demanded that the Chief Minister should take all the decisions by dismissing Chandrakant Patil’s sub-committee for the Maratha reservation.

‘Special 16’ ready for August 9 and 16:

The violent agitations of the Sakal Maratha Samaj have become a matter of concern for the state government. Police suspect that there is ‘outside hand’ behind this violence. Keeping guns on the shoulders of Maratha protesters, the miscreants are trying to create instability. The state government has requested the Central Armed Police Forces to send ‘Special 16’. The state’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sunil Porwal sent a letter to Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, sources said.

 Mumbai’s Washim area cited Mundan and Rasta Roko Aandolan
