GST Department takes big action in Pune; businessman, who took tax credit of Rs 41 crore, arrested

Pune :  NpNews24 Online – The GST Department has taken big action in Pune. The GST Department has arrested a businessman for taking a bogus input tax credit of Rs 41 crore and not paying the tax of Rs 7 crore 38 lakh to the government. The arrested businessman has been identified as Praveen Bhabutmal Gundecha. The accused was produced in the court and has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

 

A company, Jirawala Metals, by making use of fake purchase bills of Rs 41 crore took bogus input tax credit and did not pay the tax of Rs 7 crore 38 lakhs. Praveen Gundecha was questioned and this incident came to light. He was arrested and produced in court.

 

The GST department is keeping a track of tax defaulters by using comprehensive network analysis equipment. In this year, 10 actions have been taken so far. Assistant Commissioner Satish Patil, Sachin Sangle, Dattatreya Telang, and state tax inspector took part in the action.

 

Additional State Tax Commissioner Pune Area Dhananjay Akhade said that the GST Department has information about bogus businessmen and big action will be taken in the future.
