Government Approves Ivermectin Tablets For Corona Patients to Prevent Infection

New Delhi : The UP government has approved the use of ivermectin tablets as a medicine to prevent infection with the coronavirus (Covid-19). Additional Chief Secretary Health Amit Mohan Prasad issued a mandate in this regard. It also provides information about the methods of use of the drug.

The mandate states that a meeting of technical experts chaired by Director General Medical and Health Services Dr. BS Negi recommended the use of ivermectin tablets in connection with prevention and treatment of infection of COVID-19.

On the other hand, individuals exposed to the corona virus-infected patient will be fed ivermectin tablets after two hours of dinner on the first and seventh day to prevent possible infection of the disease. Not only this, health workers engaged in treatment and control of COVID-19 will also be fed this medicine to protect them from infection. Health workers will be given ivermectin medicine on the first, seventh and 30th day and once per month in frequency order.

Ivermectin, a stomach anthelmintic drug discovered 50 years ago, is also effective on the coronavirus. Ivermectin was discovered in 1970. There are many benefits of this anthelmintic drug. It has also been used in river blindness, ascariasis, filaria, influenza, dengue. This drug has also proved useful in patients. At the same time, the drug is also able to reduce the effect of coronavirus. The ivermectin drug prevents the virus from reaching the nucleus from the cell. In such a situation, the virus is not able to perform multi-fusion with the DNA of the patient. Therefore, the life of many patients can be saved through this cheap medicine.

This medicine won’t be given to pregnant women and children below two years
It has been cautioned in the mandate that this medicine will not be given to pregnant and lactating women and children below two years of age. Doxycycline will also not be given to pregnant and lactating women and children below 12 years of age.
