Future of Mahavikas Aghadi depends on Legislative Council elections

Mumbai : A battle has started for five seats in the graduate and teacher constituencies for representation in the Legislative Council. There are indications that there will be an equal fight between Mahavikas Aghadi and BJP in all the five seats. As the strength of Eksangh Mahavikas Aghadi will come to an end on the occasion of this election, there are signs that this election will be the beginning of the politics of Mahavikas Aghadi from the point of view of future elections.

The BJP has fielded independent candidates for the Nagpur, Aurangabad and Pune graduate constituencies, Amravati and Pune, while the NCP is contesting for the Pune and Aurangabad graduate constituencies and the Congress for Nagpur.

In the teachers’ constituency, the Sena has fielded candidates for the Pune Congress and Amravati seats. As the leaders of these two parties took the reins of the election, this election has become a Mahavikas Aghadi against the BJP. Therefore, the victory or defeat in this election will be the future politics of the Mahavikas Aghadi rather than the BJP.

If Mahavikas Aghadi wins this election, Mahavikas Aghadi will get a chance to test its strength in the upcoming elections. In that sense, this election is important.
