Former Special IG Abdur Rahman served section 149 notice by Mumbai police at Mumbai Bagh
Mumbai : Npnews24 – By ( Basit shaikh ) The Mumbai Police on Sunday served notice under Section 149 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to former Special IG ( State Human Rights Commission ) Abdur Rahman who was slated to address a massive gathering at Mumbai Bagh in Nagpada.Police Inspector Shalini Sharma served the notice in person to top IPS officer in public where the officer is seen signing the notice.
IPS Rahman who quit the service as civil disobedience after the central government passed the Citizenship Amendment Act, has been invited by civil rights groups and students organizations to deliver talks on the act. Off late, his popularity amongst the youth and citizens had grown exponentially for his frank and forthright views.
His supports alleged that he was being targetted for speaking truth to the power on their face and his logical and scientific arguments he makes which demolishes false propoganda and myths. Earlier , he was detained by UP police while he was on way to Aligarh University to educate the citizens on the issue of CAB-NPR-NRC.
The former top cop is author of two books- Sachar Ki Sifarishein and Denial and Deprivation : Indian Muslim after Sachar Committee and Rangnath Mishra commission reports. The latter book has become an international bestseller and published by the globally acclaimed Routledge publishers.
