Foreigner, Indian women rescued from sex racket

The social security cell (SSC) of Pune city police crime branch on Tuesday rescued two women including one from Uzbekistan who were allegedly forced into prostitution racket here.

Police have arrested two persons while search is going on for the third accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Shabnaz Altaf Meena (29) of Karnataka and Suresh Laxman Rathod (36) of Nanded. Police are looking for their accomplice Sachin Sathe.

Acting on tip-off received by Naresh Balsane, a team led by Police Inspector Manisha Zende raided a flat in Sterling House in Camp and rescued the two women. An FIR in this regard has been registered with Lashkar police station.

ACP Bhanupratap Barge supervised the investigation team which included PSI Anant Vyawhare, and police personnel Dnyaneshwar Devkar, Namdev Shelar, Rajaram Ghogare, Kavita Nalawade, Geetanjali Jadhav, Sunil Naik, Sachin Shinde from Crime and Police inspector (crime) Digambar Shinde and his team from Lashkar police station.
