The new cyber police station will handle fraud cases ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. In particular, 50 per cent of the manpower in these police stations will be women.

Preference will be given to police with knowledge of cyber law, experience in uncovering crimes and trained in cyber. All these police stations were inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Republic Day.

Mumbai, the country’s financial capital, has a relatively high number of cyber crimes. For the investigation of cyber crimes, the police as well as the complainants had to rely on the cyber police station at the Bandra Kurla Complex of the Crime Branch for technical assistance. So new cyber police stations have been started.

The work of the police station will be carried out under the supervision of the local deputy commissioner of police and senior police inspector. Balsingh Rajput, who has experience in cyber work and is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Prevention, will be assisted for technical work.
