First in 28 year, CJI ask to file FIR against SN Shukla HC judge
NPnews24 Online, Delhi: First in the landmark Veeraswamy case top court lodge a complaint against Judge Prosecution, and now CJI has asked to file FIR against SN Shukla of the Allahabad High Court first sitting judge to be prosecuted while in the office.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) has given permission to CBI to lodge an FIR against Justice SN Shukla of Allahabad High Court, Lucknow bench, under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).

The case is related to medical admission scam. Justice Shukla accused of favouring private medical college by extending the deadline for admission of students in contravention of the existing rules.

The matter reached Supreme Court, which in 1991 allowed prosecution of judges of the high court and Supreme Court but only after getting nod for the same from the CJI. This comes only a few days after justice Shukla requested CJI Gogoi to restore judicial functions to his jurisdiction.
