Fake Police sub inspector arrested for cheating people

Pune : NPnews24 – Officials from Pune city police on Monday arrested a conman Sanjay Shinde for impersonating as police sub inspector (PSI) from Hadapsar police and duping a kitchen technician of a five star hotel to the tune of Rs 80,000 on the pretext of offering him a job in a leading company since November last.

The technician from Kalepadal lodged an FIR of cheating and forgery against Shinde holding a diploma in mechanical engineering after he came to known that there was no such PSI posted at Hadapsar police.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Prasad Lonare nabbed Shinde in Manjari. During investigation, it was revealed that Shinde is married with two kids. He has studied diploma in mechanical engineering and works at a mall. However, his dream was to join police department and also he was facing financial problems.

Senior police inspector Sunil Tambe, in-charge of Hadapsar police station, said, “Shinde devised plan to earn easy money. He got police uniform and started cheating people.”

Investigation team included API Chavan and policemen Rajesh Navle, Bajrang Dhaygude, Anil Kusalkar, Amit Kamble, Shahid Shaikh and Dnyaneshwar Chite.
