Fake Navy officer arrested by Pune police

A 23-year-old man from West Bengal, who lived in Aundh, has been arrested by Pune city police for allegedly impersonating as a Navy officer. Police have also recovered Navy uniform from his possession.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rajan Janardhan Sharma, a resident of Shailesh Tower in Sidharthnagar, Aundh.

Acting on tip-off from API Patil of the anti-terrorism squad (ATS), Pune unit, police caught Sharma on Thursday. Based on complaint from police naik Dadaso Hanumant Kale, an FIR has been registered against him for offence under section 171 (wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police officials said that Sharma used to roam around in the Navy uniform and also posted photo on social media. He tried to influence his society members
