Exam centers for students appearing for board examination to be within 3km radius

Solapur: Students appearing for the Maharashtra Board class 10 and 12 examination will be allotted exam centers within a radius of 3 kilometers from their schools for their convenience. About 32 lakh students from both the classes have applied for the board examinations in the state.

With Covid-19 vaccine out for public use, schools and colleges have been started in the state. Earlier, School education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced the schedule of class 10 and 12 board examinations. Students will have to follow all Covid-19 protocols, maintain social distancing and wear masks at all times.

As per the decision of the school education department, question papers will be prepared excluding 25% of the syllabus. Counselors have been appointed to counsel and guide students and parents regarding other issues including examinations. Counselors also help ease the tension created due to the virus among students and parents.

The health of the students will be given priority while planning the exams, the school education department clarified. However, the department has not announced whether the number of examination centers will be increased or not.

Bhaskar Babar, Secondary Education Officer said, “The schedule of 10th-12th examinations has already been fixed and the students have also filled up the application forms for the examinations. As per the instructions of Pune Board, information about the schools in the district and the seating capacity of the place has been submitted. Planning is underway to set up examination centers as per their convenience and keeping in mind their health”.
