Drugs worth ₹11 lakh seized in Pune in two operations, two foreigners arrested

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | An action taken by the Anti Narcotics Cell has revealed that apart from Nigerians, Yemeni citizens are also actively involved in drug smuggling. For the first time in Pune, the drug, Catha Edulis Fertiliser has been seized. (Pune Crime News)

 

Police Naik Vishal Shinde got information that a foreigner was selling drugs from his residence. Accordingly, under guidance of senior PI Vinayak Gaikwad, the team of API Laxman Dengle and API Shailaja Jankar raided a flat in Perfect Fortune Society and arrested Yemeni citizen Al Sayaghi Abdullelaha Abdullah Ahmed (29). The police seized 8 kg 393 gm Catha Edulis Fertiliser, cash of ₹2.70 lakh, foreign currency, mobile and weighing scale totally worth ₹8.73 lakh.

 

Policeman Pandurang Pawar had received information that a Nigerian was ready to sell cocaine in Undri area near Kondhwa. The police raided Bhavani Complex and arrested Felisk AJ Ekechuku (52), a resident of Undri. The police seized cocaine of 23 gm worth ₹4.63 lakh, mobile and two-wheeler totally worth ₹5.47 lakh.

 

The Central government included Catha Edulis Fertiliser in the list of narcotic substances in 2018. However, this drug is rarely found in India. The drug, which looks like cannabis, is difficult to recognise because it looks like a tea leaf. Many people come to India on medical visa. The drug is primarily smuggled by Yemeni citizens. The drug had been seized in Mumbai two years ago.
