Deputy CM Ajit Pawar taunts PM Modi for his speech in Rajya Sabha, says “PM should show some sentiments towards the protesting farmers”

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar took a jibe at PM Narendra Modi’s emotional speech made on Tuesday in Rajya Sabha. While speaking to the reporters in Nashik after the review meeting of the state’s annual budget, he said, “It would be better if Narendra Modi showed some sentiments in the case of farmers as he did in parliament yesterday. Ajit Pawar is conducting a district-wise review of the state’s annual budget.

‘Thousands of farmers have been protesting for their rights for three months now. Both sides should take two steps back and find a solution”, Pawar added.

Earlier, Chhagan Bhujbal had also reacted to PM Modi’s emotional speech. Bhujbal had said, “Modi sometimes praises the opposition leaders and sometimes criticizes them, including Sharad Pawar. Now we must ask him which of his side is true”.

Amid the government-opposition standoff in Parliament over the farm laws, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday bid a tearful farewell to Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad whose term ends next week.

During his 13-minute speech, Modi broke down several times recalling his associating with Ghulam Nabi Azad. My door is always open for all of you… I will always expect, and value, your views,” Modi said.

Modi said it would be difficult for Azad’s successor in the Rajya Sabha to match him as he has set very high standards as an MP and as the Leader of the Opposition

The terms of four Rajya Sabha members — Mr. Azad, PDP’s Nazir Ahmed Laway, his party colleague Mir Mohammad Fayaz and BJP’s Shamsher Singh Manhas — are coming to an end by February 15 and February 10 respectively.
