Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviews state development projects in PMU meeting; All departments should work in tandem to ease Pune’s traffic congestion

Project costs increase due to delays, complete development works on time; directives from Ajit Pawar

Mumbai : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed the administration to maintain the pace of development works in the state, all departments should work in coordination. Project costs increase significantly due to delays, causing long-term damage to the state. Therefore, focus on completing development projects within the planned time frame. Additionally, the problem of traffic congestion in Pune city is severe, and all departments should work in proper coordination to ease Pune’s traffic, Pawar instructed senior officials at the Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) meeting held at Mantralaya on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner of Planning Department Dr. Rajgopal Deora, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance and Sports Department O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of Public Works Department Manisha Mhaiskar, Additional Chief Secretary of Transport and Ports, Home Department Sanjay Sethi, Principal Secretary and State Tax Commissioner to the Deputy Chief Minister Ashish Sharma, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department V. Radha, Principal Secretary of Revenue and Forest Department Venugopal Reddy, Principal Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Department Vikas Chandra Rastogi, Principal Secretary of Medical Education Department Dinesh Waghmare, Secretary of Tourism Department Jayashree Bhoj, Pune Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar (via VC), Sports Commissioner Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Managing Director of MahaRail Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, Managing Director of MahaMetro Shravan Hardikar, Medical Education Commissioner Rajiv Nivatkar, while Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase, CEO of PMRDA Yogesh Mhase, Cooperative Commissioner Deepak Taware, Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare, CEO of SARTHI Ashok Kakade, Satara District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Nashik District Collector Jalaj Sharma, Ahmednagar District Collector Siddharam Salimath, Raigad District Collector Kishan Jawale, Ratnagiri District Collector M. Devendrasinh, Deputy Secretary of Deputy Chief Minister’s Office Gajanan Patil were present. Senior officials from Pune Metro, PMRDA, and related districts attended via VC.

Accelerate the work on the Man-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Corridor 3. Also, follow up with the central government for the approval of the extended metro routes from Hadapsar to Lonikalbhor, Hadapsar to Saswad, Swargate to Katraj, Vanaz to Chandni Chowk, Ramwadi to Wagholi. To ease the traffic congestion in Pune city and its suburbs, expedite the work on the Pune Ring Road. Additionally, potholes on the roads in Pune city should be filled immediately. Every year, thousands of new vehicles are coming onto the roads in Pune city, increasing the traffic load daily. To smooth the traffic in Pune city and suburbs, the speed of all ongoing infrastructure works such as metro, flyovers, ring road should be increased. All departments related to these projects should work in proper coordination to ease Pune’s traffic congestion.

Pawar also reviewed the progress of various projects including the medical college in Satara, Sainik School, the government medical college in Usar, Alibaug, the coastal highway from Rewas to Revdanda, the Pune outer ring road, GST Bhavan in Wadala, Pune-Nashik high-speed railway, SARTHI’s headquarters in Pune, and SARTHI’s regional sub-centers in Aundh, Nashik, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Krishi Bhavan in Pune, Education Commissioner’s Office, Kamgar Kalyan Bhavan, Sahakar Bhavan, and Nondni Bhavan.
