Defence minister sanctioned 9,100 crores for Indian Army

Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) has sanctioned Rs 9,100 crore for the security forces. This will increase the strength of the Indian Army. In the meeting held on Tuesday, such approval was given under the presence of the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

DAC has approved the purchase of two regiments of the Akash Missile System which comes under the ‘Boy Indian’ category.

Earlier, in February 2018 the Ministry of Defence had approved the purchase proposals of Rs 15,935 crore. To strengthen the Armed Forces, DAC had approved the purchase of 7.40 lac Assault Rifles, 5,719 sniper rifles, and light machine guns. This purchase proposal was lying for a long time under DAC.

The DAC has also approved the design and development of test equipment for guided weapons systems for T90 tanks.

From the amount sanctioned there is the possibility of buying modern weapons. Anti-aircraft Defence Missile System S-400 will be purchased with Russia to secure the Indian airspace. Along with this, India is also talking with America to buy new and modern weapons.
