Deccan Education Society’s Incubation, Start-up, Training and Placement Cell 1700 registrations

Pune , Npnews24 Online – Inaugurationof the Start Up Club of Deccan Education Society’s Incubation, Start-up, Training and Placement Cell was held at the Amphitheatre at the Fergusson College Pune Campus.

The event was presided by Dr. Sharad Kunte (Chairman of Deccan Education Society), Dr.RavindrasingPardeshi (Principal of Fergusson College) and Mr. Satish Mehta (Managing Director & CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals), Chief Guest of the function.

Yashaswi Sane formally welcomed all the dignitaries present on the dias.

Later, Adesh Gokhle gave a brief account of the initiative and purpose of the Start-up Club. He mentioned that the objective of the Start-up Club was to encourage startup culture with special focus on rural area or rural supportive model, have small tangible ideas which would create social impact and focus on microfinancing and mentoring Start-ups

The calendar of the activities for the Start-Up Club was shared by Adesh Gokhale which included Ideation and Funding Workshops, Success and Failure stories, Hackathon, understanding paint points of the industry and providing solutions to them, shark tanks, mentoring activities and writing proposals and project plans.

In his speech, Dr.Kunte stated that this initiative aims to create employers, instead of employees. He expressed his delight on the enthusiasm of the students, with over 1700 registrations by students from DES units from Pune, Mumbai and Sangli.  The students are from diverse education backgrounds such as Management, Law, Nursing, Physiotherapy,Pure Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Economics, Media, Diploma in Surface Coating and Paint technology etc.

Dr.Kunte mentioned that the program was broadcasted live in Sangli and Mumbai campus. The registered students, faculty, staff and council members of the Deccan Education Society attended the program with great enthusiasm

Mr Satish Mehta delivered his key note address and recounted his experiences as an entrepreneur, starting with a small seed capital of 3 lacs in the 80’s, with current revenue which is expected to be around 5,500 crores.

He spoke about innovation and a scientific approach coupled with humility as key drivers of differentiation, leading to success in this competitive world. Mr. Mehta mentioned that there is no substitute to hard work but along with that physical fitness and mental fitness are important aspects on which young individuals should focus on.

Sharmila Deodhar, creator of BreakfastKaro.com, was invited for ainterview session and shared her challenges while scripting her success in the start-up.

The event was concluded by vote of thanks, with the promise to identify the next Unicorn that could be lurking within the DES Universe.
