Congress Mohan Joshi On Pune Metro | Who is responsible for the delay in opening the second phase of Pune Metro project, asks Vice-President of Congress Party Mohan Joshi
PUNE : Congress Mohan Joshi On Pune Metro | The Congress Party has raised a question to the BJP when the second phase of Pune Metro service will be inaugurated for which Puneites are eagerly waiting. Vice-President of the Congress Party and former MLA Mohan Joshi said, “The office-bearers of the BJP in Pune city, got the inauguration done of the 5 km route of Pune Metro on March 6, 2022 by thinking about only PMC elections. Now, 15 months have passed and the second phase of Pune Metro is yet to be inaugurated. Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil is making promises after promises. The January of 2023 is over and March has also ended. Then they said that it will be inaugurated on May 1 but that date has also passed. Now June is here but the work of the second phase of Pune Metro has not been completed.”
“The Puneites are fed with never ending traffic jams. To find a solution, the Central and state governments are implementing the Pune Metro project at a cost of ₹11,500 crore. Puneites are wondering whether the project had been started to siphon off money. After the ground breaking ceremony was carried out by PM Narendra Modi on December 24, 2016, we are being told that the work of the project is still going on even after seven years have passed. What should we understand from this? Are officials waiting for something or are they planning to invite PM Modi again as he is very fond of inaugurating various projects? People are fed up with assurances given by Chandrakant Patil and have lost faith in him,” Joshi said.
“BJP leaders of Pune say again and again that the city has got metro only because of the party. However, the metro projects are testing the patience of Puneites. Since the works of Pune Metro have started, the people are suffering because of traffic jams and potholes. But it seems that the BJP is not bothered about these things. If BJP is serious about this issue, I challenge Chandrakant Patil to announce the date of the inauguration of the second phase,” Joshi added.
