All officials, staff in govt, semi govt offices must wear helmets, says District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Compulsory Helmet Rule In Pune | The number of deaths of two-wheeler riders is increasing. Many of the deaths occur because riders don’t wear helmets which result in serious head injuries leading to their death. Compared to cars, the risk of a two-wheeler rider dying in an accident is seven times more. In road accidents, 62 pc deaths are happening due to serious head injuries.
Hence, Pune Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has issued a circular on Thursday. According to the circular, wearing of helmets has been made compulsory for government and semi government officers and workers. He has threatened to take strict action against those who disobey the order.
According to the Motor Vehicle Act and as per instructions of HC and SC, the rider and the pillon have to wear helmets in public places. Because of the use of helmets, the possibility of a life being saved increases by 80 per cent in the case of an accident.
As per the circular, all officials and staff working in the government, semi government, corporations, municipal corporations, municipal councils, schools, colleges and all government organisations have to compulsorily wear helmets.
Strict action will be taken against the offenders.
